My Favorite Dry Skin Tip!

The top of the skin is comprised of layers and layers of dead skin cells that will pile up more and more like layers of sheet rock, when they become dry. There is a benefit to removing these cells via safely exfoliating, for a few reasons. Removing the hard top layer will allow your moisturizing agents to get to the skin much better, will reduce clogging of pores, and will give the skin a brighter appearance.

These dry hard dead skin cells are ready and willing to leave you, they just need a little push! They will actually slough off much better when they are hydrated and they also need a firm exfoliating tool to scrub them away. My Famous Pink Buff is great for the body or face. You can also use any kind of loofah or exfoliating glove or a rough wash cloth.

For the BODY; Soak in a tub for at least 15 minutes. While still in the water give your whole body a good firm scrub. Make sure to rinse. Dry off. My favorite way to get a deep penetrating moisturization is to mix and oil and a lotion/cream. My favorite body oil is organic safflower oil. There are some interesting studies about oil on skin that favor this oil with less inflammatory responses. Otherwise coconut oil is second best in my opinion and olive oil next. Shae butter can be irritating depending on its processing so I try and stay away from it. Mix an oil with an organic lotion 1:20 (not a lot of oil) and rub in well.

For the FACE; Rinse but do not use soap or cleanser. Pat dry. Apply plain organic cold yogurt all over your face. Leave on for no longer than 5 minutes, as you don’t want the yogurt to start to dehydrate and get tacky. Give a good firm scrub rubbing sideways and downwards (no circles to avoid pushing product into your pores). Do not scrub one area more than three passes. Rinse well, pat dry and apply your favorite moisturizer. For mildly oily skin or acne skin I recommend my Green Tea Organic Moisturizing Serum. For Normal to dry skin with NO acne or clogging issues, I love Hyunia’s Healing and Restoring Cream (which I have for $35) and I LOVE even more to mix the Healing and Restoring with my small batch 100% organic preservative free Plum Oil + Calendula Flower Facial Serum. For very oily skin I recommend no moisturizer at all.

After an exfoliation like this what ever you apply will definitely penetrate more than usual so keep that in mind if you apply a strong serum.
