Environmental Considerations At The Salon

On a personal level the effects we are having on the environment concern me and in 2024 I was even considering attending Vermont Law School for a masters in Climate Change-Land Conservation. For now I am happy to be the change I can be where I am.

These are some things that I do at the salon to reduce carbon foot print:
~All packaging supplies and boxes for shipping products are recycled.
~Cleaning supplies are eco-friendly
~I offer the option of products without the outside packaging box
~I am a woman owned small business
~I volunteer my time to Green Mountain Conservancy of So Vermont and serve on the board of Downtown Brattleboro Alliance
~I offer no email receipt option, to reduce global electric use
~2% of my personal profit goes to environmental non-profits
~The therapeutic Acne Stop Facial is kept at a price significantly below market value to help with accessibility
~Facial pricing is kept lower than market value to encourage accessibility
~Provide low cost at home self care skin tips
~I ride an E-bike to work in warmer months, to reduce air pollution and fossil oil use
~All furniture is recycled

The main skin care line I use is Hylunia and though it is their amazing clean, California certified organic and Ayurvedic ingredients that drew me in twenty years ago, I also am so excited by their personal environmental commitments. And here they are!

We avoid the use of harsh, toxic chemicals in our products.
We use shipping peanuts that are biodegradable and dissolve in water.
We give our customers the freedom to choose to receive their products without the outside boxes.
We contribute a portion of our proceeds towards planting trees and reforestation.
Our procurement team makes sure we are not using ingredients derived from threatened plant species.
We’re working to significantly reduce the use of plastic in our products.

We are cruelty-free. Not only do we not test on animals; our product is so safe that we test on ourselves! We have agreements with all our suppliers that they do not do animal testing.
We have eliminated single-use plastics from our office.
All our products are produced in Henderson, Nevada in our own plant.
To reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy, we use skylight in our warehouse and production areas. Where we have to use electric lights, we only use energy efficient ones.
We do all our sales activities remotely, thus avoiding extensive air and road travel for our sales staff and thereby reducing our carbon footprint.
All our products are GMO-free.
We do not print hard copy documents in our offices unless it’s absolutely necessary – for daily work we use digital files.
We reuse all non-recyclable stationary used in our office.
